"I recently saw something on youtube that totally inspired me.
Basically a group of dancers in Stokholm performed a small dance routine to the classic Michael Jackson song "beat it" (if you think about the recent T-mobile advert you kinda get the idea).
Anyway, i would like to arrange the same thing here in Edinburgh.
I need as many people as possible (at least 100+) to take part in this event to make it work...
details are :
Meet outside dancebase on the grassmarket between 12 noon and 2pm on SATURDAY 29TH AUGUST 2009.
From 2pm till 2:30pm everyone will have a quick rehearsal and then we will perform the piece at hopefully 3pm, 4pm and 5pm on the grassmarket.
I am getting in contact with dancebase to see if they would be willing to support us, by giving us access to studio 2 sound system so that the music can be played at high volume so that we make the biggest impact we can.
Wear normal clothes if u are attending, but remember to wear decent footwear u can dance in.
I have attached the original video link for you to watch so that you get a rough idea of what we are trying to achieve, and also so that you can perhaps practice before the event.
I have chosen the date SAT 29TH AUG for several reasons...
Its possibly the busiest saturday of the Fringe festival, so we are ensured a good vibe for the day. (hope it doesn't rain....it will still happen even if it does rain, unless its torrential and too dangerous)
It also gives everyone plenty time to book the day off work and practice etc.
But more importantly, 29th Aug is Michael Jackson's birthday (he would have been 51).
I think this could be an amazing event to be involved in, and could quite possibly get media coverage.
Please let me know if you can make it, and also forward this event to EVERYONE that u think might be interested.
PS....even if u dont want to dance, please still turn up and show ur support, if it goes to plan you will not want to miss it.
