Banksman/Traffic Controller

Pay rate from £13.00

Monday to Friday, 6.30am to 4.30pm (Overtime available on Saturdays (Half Day)).

Job Description:
- Ensure that appropriate traffic management is in place;
Inspect loads to spot any contamination, record and dispose of them accordingly
- Understand and follow the procedure for segregating various materials and tipping zones
- Direct drivers to tipping zones – ensure loads are tipped in the correct place
- Control of mobile plant and HGV movement on site
- Checking and completing paperwork, i.e. waste transfer notes, contamination reports, etc.
- Record any breaches from HGV or machine operators
- Liaise with site management and weighbridge office
- Maintain a safe and efficient environment
- Monitor PPE compliance of drivers and contractors;
- High level of communication with site management to ensure that key instructions are understood and carried out;
- Keep Line Manager informed of any issues or concerns (relevant & timely);
- Ensure that all bins/skips are emptied when full;
- Follow all site safety rules (reporting procedures, PPE, smoking policy, emergency procedures)
- Cooperate and follow site management instructions
- Ensure that the working environment is kept clean, tidy, and free from hazards and that materials are stored safely at all times
- Be aware of your limitations
- Radio Operation trained, good communication skills
- Clean up and/or report all spillages as trained to do so
- Attend and complete traffic controller training (internal & external)
- You may sometimes be required to carry out duties not shown in the outlined job description above.

ESSENTIAL requirements:

- Good knowledge of H&S regulation and safe systems of work
- Previous experience in a similar role or environment
- Working with low levels of supervision in a high-pressure production environment
- A clear understanding and experience of using tablet and ability to learn internal waste management systems
- Proven ability to work within timescales and meet deadlines
- Basic standard of education such as GCSE, Standard Grades or equivalent
- Good level of English

DESIRABLE qualifications:

- Qualifications in Waste Management Operations
- Vehicle banksmen qualification
- Due to site location own transport
